Braided wire is a type of shielding that gets built into a cable for two reasons: To protect the cable from electromagnetic interference (EMI). To increase the flex life and mechanical strength of a cable.

Range Of Multicore Shielded Cables
  • Braid Shield : Provides superior structural integrity while maintaining good flexibility and flex life. Are ideal for minimizing low frequency interference and have lower DC resistance than foil. Effective at audio, as well as RF ranges.
  • Foil Shield : Provides 100% cable coverage, necessary for electrostatic shield protection. Commonly used to shield individual pairs of multi pair data cables to reduce crosstalk because of their small size. Drain wires used with foil shield to make termination easier and to ground electrostatic discharges.
  • Combination Shield : Provides maximum shield efficiency across the frequency spectrum. The combination foil/braid shield combines the advantage of 100% foil coverage plus the strength and low DC resistance of the braid.

SGI offers a choice of high quality Screened/Shielded & Braided Multi Core ATC Cables which consists of cores made of flexible tinned copper conductors with ROHS FR PVC Insulation and Sheathing. To avoid electromagnetic interference these Cables have a outer sheath with a copper braided shield between the sheaths which serves to avoid in building systems and were equipment is in environments where electromagnetic interference would be unacceptable. These control and signal cables are used in the milli-ampere range for computer systems, electronic control equipment, office machines, scales etc. and wherever the thinnest possible control cables are required.

Design 

SGI – Screened/Braid Shielded Cable consist of fine stranded copper conductors laid up to provide a flexible design.  RoHS-FR PVC insulation offers high resistance to increased ambient temperatures, however with a low mechanical resistance to cuts and tearing.

Operating Temperature

* Minimum and maximum permissible -20°C ambient temperature +50°C

* Maximum permissible conductor temperature 70°C

Resistance to Chemicals

Occasional slight exposure to oil and grease is permitted but the cables must not lie continually in oil or grease. They must be protected against fuels and solvents by suitable insulation.

TENSILE STRENGTH

The maximum allowable tensile stress is 12.5 x 1/ mm2. This ensures no conductor damage will occur in operation.
